My photographic exhibition, Ethereal Abandonment, is coming to life through a partnership with Chicago Danztheatre Ensemble.
The production will take place at Chicago Danztheatre Ensemble’s Auditorium where on the evenings of May 12, 13, 19 and 20 it will be transformed into an abandoned theater setting. The production is preceded by a pre-show gallery reception with food, drinks and an installation of my original art work Ethereal Abandonment.
The exhibit is a continuation of my work bringing images of lovely ruins to life. In each picture there are elements of a larger story and layers that wait to be uncovered. Ruins beckon us to explore and look closer. There is at once a sense of discovery and a feeling of long ago. In the accumulated debris you find a slipstream of hope, the seeds for tomorrow and the roots of reclamation.
Chicago Danztheatre Ensemble’s production is set in an abandoned playhouse that once was an epicenter of life, art and community. This unique and original program of dance and theater explores the historical connections between the ethereal world that once was and the reality of what it has become. Through storytelling and physical memories, the people and stories of the theater in the ethereal world make themselves known to modern day explores who sense their hidden vignettes.
